Rotterdam's Market Hall is the first covered market in the Netherlands, combining a tasty shopping experience inside a unique building. This iconic fresh market has 100 fresh produce sellers, 15 food shops and 8 restaurants. Packed with food stalls selling packed with fresh fish and meats, vegetables and cheeses to bread and sweets you can really find it all in one place.Located under the Markthal's 40-meters tall arched structure, the ceiling to the floor is decorated with the biggest piece of art in the Netherlands. Created by artist Arno Coenen, 'the Horn of Plenty' displays digitally enlarged images of food, flowers and insects styled after the still-life paintings from the 17th century. When visiting the Markthal be sure to also look for the numerous medieval objects, near the escalators and in the car park, that were excavated during construction. The market stalls are open from Monday through Thursday and Saturday from 10.00am to 8.00pm. On Friday from 10.00am to 9.00pm and Sunday from 12.00pm to 6.00pm. Visiting by car? You can park in the garage located directly beneath the building.
